What is the Cost of Chiropractic Care?
The Cost of Chiropractic Care
Not trying to sound evasive but until your condition has been fully evaluated and a recommended care plan created, it is difficult to give a specific cost. But consider the following:
Costs of Medical or Health Care
Even in tough economic times, you still cannot afford to neglect your health needs because eventually you will have to “pay the piper” sooner or later. Usually dealing with pain now saves you time and money in the future versus waiting until you are in crisis mode.
In terms of economics, conditions such as back pain, neck pain, spinal problems, and the like affect an individual’s productivity at work. Therefore, it produces a domino effect in the legal, economic, and health care industry.
Chiropractic vs Traditional Clinical Care
This is where chiropractic care comes in and is one of the reasons why it has gained so much attention over the years. Health experts have examined a given demographic of individuals who opted for chiropractic care against those who had traditional medical care. The difference between both methods lies in three different factors: surgical rates, diagnostic imaging, and level of patient satisfaction.
Indeed, costs are considerably lower for individuals who opted for chiropractic care due to the absence of any medical equipment or prescription drugs in the equation. Therefore, this is where the savings come in for chiropractic treatments. I read somewhere that chiropractic treatment costs about 90% less than the price of surgery.
Coverage of Chiropractic Cost
There are many factors that effect your individual cost. Among them are the number of recommended visits and the type of treatments needed for the quickest recovery.
Typically your first visits costs more than a “regular” visit because there are far more procedures involved and the length of time is typically greatest on the first visit. For your follow-up visits, you can expect the rate to go down.
Here are some payment consideration.
1. Affordable First Visit: We believe in offering a very affordable First Office Visit so that patients can evaluate for themselves if chiropractic care can benefit them.
2. Chiropractic treatment is covered by HSA and most flex-spending plans.
3. We offer a number of payment options including interest free financing by Care Credit (to qualified applicants)
4. We offer pre-payment packages that reduce the overall cost.
5. We offer monthly payment options.
6. We accept insurance.*
*The Truth About Insurance and Chiropractic Care
In the past, as with much of health care, virtually all Chiropractic care was covered under the 80-20 provisions. Of course those days are long gone thanks to the advent of managed care, HMO’s, and rising insurance premiums. Today the following often applies:
- Insurance co-pays are as high or higher than the cost of an adjustment.
- High deductibles must be met before any coverage is offered.
- Most insurance plans put very tight restrictions on the number of chiropractic visits, regardless of your condition or individual needs. In many cases they restrict Chiropractors from offering any additional visits even if the patient agrees to pay out of pocket.
- Most insurance plans will not cover services other than adjustments even though therapies such as ultrasound, EMS, cold laser, etc. would improve the overall healing and at a much faster pace. Most of these insurance plans restrict Chiropractors from offering these services even if the patient agrees to pay out of pocket.
- Most insurance plans restrict your choice of health care provider and what services you may receive.
We are happy to accept any insurance coverage you have, whether we are in or out of network but wanted you to be aware of the restrictions that insurance plans place on chiropractic care without, often times, reducing your overall out of pocket expense. Your health care becomes a bureaucratic decision based on standardized formulas rather than a plan that meets your true health care needs.
